In Fall 2023 I am making
time for pro bono work!

If you work in a nonprofit, small business, or mission-driven organization and could use some support with learning, development, team building, or communications,

I would love to collaborate.

Action Mapping and Needs Assessments
Let’s set performance goals for your organization and use backward design to achieve them. For example - do you need to increase sales, decrease accidents, reduce turnover, or improve satisfaction ratings? We can use action mapping to analyze problems and make a comprehensive plan to improve performance using blended learning and other strategies. The power of action mapping is that it transcends the old paradigm that assumes your team just needs to know more, so you can design practice opportunities for your team to do more - and do better.
An action map. At the center - GOAL: Reduce domestic worker turnover. Red arrow points to ACTION: Create a clear and fair contract. Purple lines point to ACTIVITIES: Download a contract, revise for specific needs, and schedule a meeting. Talk with household members to figure out the maximum affordable wages and benefits. Set a meeting to discuss. Green arrow points to INFORMATION: Sample Contracts. Domestic Worker Bill of Rights.

Instructional Design of ILTs and vILTs
(virtual instructor-led trainings)
No more time-wasting, condescending info dumps! I design dynamic learning experiences to leverage your team’s existing talents and  improve skills through practice activities. I can facilitate - or train your team to facilitate - discussions, debates, skill shares, scenario-based learning, role plays, on-the-job scaffolded practice, and other experiences to practice reflection, critical thinking, cultural competency, and real world problem-solving. True learning is a process, not a “one and done” - so let’s figure out how ILTs or vILTs can work with your long-term, blended learning campaigns.
Yellow line drawing of a person climbing an arrow with gears in the background. Title reads INSTRUCTIONAL DESIGN FOR REAL-WORLD IMPACT. Text reads, Don't give people info dumps! Gaining knowledge is not enough. People also need to change what they DO. Set measurable goals for the changes that you want to see, and create opportunities for people to practice working towards those goals.

Digital Resources and Interactive eLearning
I use Articulate Rise and Storyline to design and develop interactive learning experiences incorporating scenarios, storytelling, authentic assessments, and software simulations to help users learn new technologies. My tech philosophy is grounded in ethical, human-centered design thinking. Let’s work together to plan blended learning campaigns that balance low-tech solutions with accessible, attractive digital resources that increase people’s capacity for empathy and real-world decision making.
Black starry sky with hot pink text box that reads A BRIEF HISTORY OF GENDER. Three people are pictured in front of a hot pink timeline with blue stars: a South Asian person with a bindi and pink and orange outfit, peeling a banana; a black and white photo of Zuni artist We’wha wearing two buns and a traditional dress with geometric patterns while holding a basket; and Mexican artist Lukas Avendaño wearing a long, hot pink skirt, no shirt, and a hot pink flowered headband. White text box reads “The gender binary is a relatively new concept in human history. Muxes in Mexico, two-spirit Indigenous people in North America, waria in Indonesia, mudoko dako in Uganda, and chibados in Angola are just a few examples of the many people who have lived, and continue to live, beyond the binary.”

Accessibility and Inclusion Support
Are your materials accessible to people with disabilities, English language learners, and people with limited broadband? Whether you need to improve ALT text and captions, clean up text to maximize readability, ensure compliance with WCAG and Section 508, or do sensitivity readings to ensure that your message is as inclusive and  affirming as possible, I would love to help you bring your message to a wider audience.

Community and Cohort-Based
Learning Experiences
Adults have a wealth of knowledge and skills - but they need more opportunities to share those skills and learn from one another. Whether you call it popular education, cohort-based learning, or communities of practice, social learning enhances performance by creating spaces where people can collaborate, integrate knowledge and skills, and apply them to real problems. I can help you leverage your team’s talent and maximize social learning, or set up transparent processes for collaboration and mentoring. We’ll balance structure and flexibility, giving people just enough guidance to get started and work equitably - and plenty of space to set their own goals, innovate, and take on leadership roles.

Job Aids, Tip Sheets, and Other Resources
What if a job could be made easier by a sign, flow chart, checklist, tip sheet, PDF, or digital announcement? I can help to create clear, concise references that your team will refer to again and again.
Turquoise fact sheet with black text reads Basics of NVC (Nonviolent Communication). A table lists steps on one side: 1 - Observation, 2 - Feeling, 3- Need, 4 - Request. The other column reads Example: 1 - When I hear that you've been telling our coworkers things you don't like about how I work, 2 - I feel bewildered, 3- because I need transparency, and direct communication. 4-If you're upset about something that I do, will you please tell me first so we can talk it out?

Writing, Editing, and Storyboarding
Need support with communications, storytelling, interviews, speeches, sensitivity reading, video scripts, or storyboarding for engaging, user-friendly digital learning? I am a published, award-winning writer and public speaker with a passion for inclusive communications. I can help you to craft that one-of-a-kind story that only you can tell - and ensure that your message reaches as many people as possible.

Transformative Facilitation
Is your team ready to make stronger connections and align your values with your actions? Circles may be just what you need. The basic principle is as simple as it is universal: in a circle, we are
all at equal distance from the center. When we take turns speaking in circle - in-person or online - we embody equity and horizontal leadership. Circles can surface unconscious beliefs, connect us beyond small talk, foster a culture of accountability, and catalyze lasting change. Maybe you’re looking for reflection, community building, anti-oppression education, transformational fundraising,
or a restorative justice approach to conflict resolution. Maybe you just want to plan something that's relaxing and different from the usual mixer where some voices get heard, and others don’t. In any case, I would love to help you design the circle that you and your people need.
